Jericho Fan Suggestions for new online content for the CBS Jericho Web Site
(Compiled from the message boards on - 06/18/07)
Content ideas involving direct cast/crew input
- Blogs written by writers, cast members to give the fans updates. Have the bloggers post what’s in their ipods, favorite books, favorite TV series. Especially if they mention products that happen to be sponsors.
- Variation on blog idea is running daily blog that various cast and crew contribute to a la “Notes from the Set”
- Live chats with cast members
- Published interviews with cast and crew.
- A diary from someone in Jericho that gives more storyline (added note: that one is one of my favorites). Like the one Barney writes for “How I Met Your Mother”
- Q&A with characters, similar to questions for Hawkins
CBS Jericho Web Site Ideas
- Update Air Date and Time throughout the CBS site and message board (old info still shows)
- Chat feature.
- Live Viewing Parties online (through a chat on CBS.com)
- Host a chat session with a cast or crew member every week (or maybe second week)
- News related
- A section for upcoming cast appearances. Talk Shows, etc.
- New information section so that new content doesn’t need to be “discovered”
- Additional or updated online content (CBS/Junction generated)
- A Bigger map showing not only Jericho, but the surrounding areas. Make it interactive.
- An online story for the off season time, similar to “Countdown”.
- Info on the upcoming 7 episodes (titles, teasers).
- Kid’s game area that is fun and educational like CBS does for NUMB3RS...possibly involving Morse code.
- Wide angle web cam of production (nothing that gives away plots)
- Beyond Jericho video stories or similar
- Downloadable content
- Library of photos
- Screensavers
- ringtones
- Fan created content
- Fan created video – like those that can be submitted for other CBS shows
- Online graphic novels and short stories that are fan written.
- Make links to the other Jericho Websites available.
- Contests for fan created materials, could be highlighted on DVD, and maybe even some “Beyond Jericho” fan created videos that could be judged for contest or???
- A fan fiction novel (by a CBS forum user?) that has a continuing story from week to week
- WIKI
- WIKI: Update pages-using a more standardized formatting?
- Add a WIKI page with fan locations so those in the same area can meet up more easily
- A continually updated FAQ about the show that is not biased towards advertisements and ego. (added note: We think this member was talking about the Wiki, and how it can be mistreated if not monitored)
- Separate box on main page to link to Shaun's talking JERICHO radio show segments
- Interactive content
- Multiplayer online video game. A fan has worked out all the details and has named the game “Aftermath”. The suggestion includes the idea to put the game on Xbox 360, which would bring in new viewers in the proper demographic and make money for CBS.
- Interactive map where fan could pin their location
- Contests and other similar ideas
- Jericho trivia game and other games, with a high score table.
- Contests and giveaways involving Jericho gear possibly linked to trivia and the most recent episode
- A contest on there site for Walk a day in Jericho.
- CBS could have a poll after innertube to count how many have watched. They can capture the IP address so there is not multiple submissions.
- Interactive code for viewers to text or put in online to prove they
were watching live. The online portion could capture some demographic
information:
http://jerichoboard.cbs.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?sr=y&msg=14870.1&nav=messages&webtag=CBSMBJericho - Integrate a game into the show. Maybe something like hidden clues that lead to a dark secret about Jakes past or something. This would be interactive so people have to watch the show to try and find the clues for a chance to win something. Perhaps a chance at a meet and greet with the cast and an extra spot.
